Spending time with Hubby

Today Hubby and I were able to getaway once again! Twice in one week...that is amazing. All thanks to my dear ole' mom. Thank you mom for taking care of wild and crazy twin toddlers!!

So, we headed off to the Buick Open bright and early this morning to watch some pros. I had bought the tickets back in February for a Valentine's gift for Hubby. We used to go every year, but since my bedrest summer and the kids were born we hadn't made it back. It was HOT...but we found a hole in the shade with a nice breeze and just kicked back to watch some great golf!! Although Tiger was not there, we weren't too disappointed because we have seen him at least 3 or 4 times in the past. We both just enjoy watching golf! Some people may think that is dorky...be we find it to be an exciting sport!
I realized this week just how important it is to spend some alone time w/hubby every now and then. Many times I think married couples just get caught up in daily life...especially when you have kids...and forget to just enjoy the company of one another.
So, I encourage you to go out there and get a piece (of alone time, I mean)....

Ode to our first lil' man...

Well, 9 years ago yesterday a little boy joined our family and just made our hearts melt. He was was the first grandchild, the first nephew, the first boy, and the first of a new generation. Yep, I'm speakin' of "M"...who is not so little anymore :-/. In honor of his birthday I will post some pics of him growing over the years! Lately, I have really noticed how mature he is becoming. Also, he is getting to that point where he would much rather hang out with his friends than his boring ole' family :-{. Aaaghh...he is growing up TOO fast! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY PAL!!

*Also, I am feeling relaxed and refreshed after our little getaway. Even though, we didn't go to the beach...let's just say I spent an awful lot of time in the sand while golfing. We had a great time and I was able to sneak in a massage!*
**I guess Wordless Wednesday isn't so wordless today! :-)**

Just splashin around...

We have really been enjoying our summer so far! I feel so blessed to have 3 months off every year to just enjoy my family/friends and relax. My lil' babies are growing up SO fast and changing so much every day...it is unbelievable.

A couple weeks ago we attempted a crafting project (stepping stones) which required a bucket of water. Once I realized how much fun my two had with a simple bucket of water...a fun water table was definitely needed. Here are some pics below of our new toy! LK wanted to jump in and take a bath the first time I set it up...it was funny.

* Hubby and I are off for a little golf overnighter...we never really get away, so I am pretty excited! Will definitely be back for Wordless Wednesday*

Happy Father's Day!

In appreciation of my Hubby and all he does for us I will be showcasing a little Smilebox below for your enjoyment.

I was lucky enough to celebrate Father's Day with my own DAD! My sisters and I took him golfing and had a great time! We even took lil "Z" man to drive the cart. I'll have some pics of the family fun later in the week.

Remembering a special person...

Today will mark 3 years since my mother-in-law and beloved "grammy"
(to LJ, LK, ZoZo , Carly Bug, and Coop) passed. This rose bush was a memorial gift given to us upon her passing. These roses just bloomed 2 days ago. I thought the timing was interesting. We think of her all the time, but on this day Hubby and I usually don't comment on what "day" it is. Even though it is a really difficult day to remember and brings back so many sad details, she was such an awesome woman that a blog post is much deserved.

Here is my hope for a future conversation between myslef, LJ, and LK....
LJ and LK: "Mom, what happened to Grammy"
Mom: "She had pancreatic cancer"
LJ and LK: "I wish we could have met her"
Mom: "I wish you could have also.."
LJ and LK: "I sure am glad that they found a cure for cancer so we don't lose more people that we love"

Pancreatic cancer is one of the top 5 deadliest cancers in the U.S. The reason being that usually the cancer has spread before it is detected. In 2008, new cases of pancreatic cancer are at 37,680. Deaths from pancreatic cancer in 2008 are at 34,290. To learn more about pancreatic cancer or to donate to help find a cure, please visit PanCan

Some of you may remember my post about Randy Pausch and his Last Lecture. Well, his blog is located here. I keep checking up on him, knowing exactly how grim his future is. I pray that he lives to enjoy Father's Day on Sunday as he has three children under the age of 6. Here is a blog post from a colleague of Randy. I am sorry if I am going on and on about this man....but I really haven't been so inspired in quite some time. Also, pancreatic cancer is what our favorite dirty dancer,Patrick Swayze, was diagnosed with earlier this year. I hear he was spotted at a Lakers game in May and seems to be doing okay.

Good-bye MM...Hello Wordless Wednesday

Well, I am going to start a new meme. This time we are going to try Wordless Wednesday. Basically, you are just going to get a picture and that's it! From time to time you may see a Merchandise Monday, although I don't think too many people were huge fans of that meme.

Enjoy the start of Wordless Wednesday!

Happy B-day ZACHMAN!!

My little nephew "Z" is not so little anymore! He turns 6 today. Time has flown by. I remember the day he was born and it just seems he has grown SO fast!! When I called to wish him Happy Birthday today he had lots on the agenda. Let's see...he was going swimming, drinking pop out of a can (that was a big deal), and he was having spaghetti and pizza for dinner.
Here is the little "Z" man at 2.5 years of age....
Here he is NOW at 6 years of age!

A whole new yard!

The old grass was dug up, the ground was leveled, the sod has been laid, and now it is up to us to keep it looking great! Not that you all care about my yard or anything...but it was kind of exciting for us.
Here is our old YUCKY yard below

LJ's thoughts: Whoa...this is definitely NO soccer field! I hope I don't fall on this very hard ground. C'mon mom and dad get it together would ya?? Help a boy out!

LK's thoughts: I'm trying real hard to help daddy out with this stuff they're calling grass. I just can't seem get the mower through all the holes and pickers. We need to do something.

LK's thoughts: I give up...

Weird squirrel's thoughts: This is the perfect yard for me...I am so messed up looking and so is this yard!! (FYI-this squirrel was really in our back yard...isn't he freaky?)
E and B's thoughts: LET'S get a new yard!!!

So, we now have a yard filled with sod that we need to water, water, water in order for it to grow. We have had the sprinkler on all day...I am afraid to see what our water bill is going to look like! Many thanks to the Grass Chopper...you did a great job and we were so glad we didn't have to do all that manual labor!

I am going to leave you with a shot of my peonies that finally popped. I wait every year for them and was so worried they would get dug up! They made it through the construction and I am sure I'll have more pics for you of the peonies in bloom!
