That was easy...

I haven't been doing a very good job of keeping you up-to-date on my crafts...probably because I haven't done much!! I didn't find time to complete any more hair bows over my summer break, but these are next on my list.
I managed to design a few invites...created my last one in PS Elements which was a bit of a challenge because I had been creating them in PowerPoint of all places...and I must say was getting quite comfortable there...even though I know it is not really a design program!!

I created a few tees with iron-on transfer paper...

My last set of t-shirts are especially my favorite! They were SO easy and super cheap. As many of you know in a week my babies are turning 2! I was browsing through Etsy and noticed many sellers with cute shirts detailing a child's age. I thought to myself...that looks like something I can do! So, I visited my local Jo-Ann's and picked out some fabric and also some Steam-A-Seam2. Next on the to-do was to find some solid tees. As luck would have it, Wal-Mart was selling them clearanced for a buck a piece. What a deal! This was SO easy!! Someday, when I learn how to sew I can add stitch detail around the number.

Need a laugh??

So, I was strolling through Barnes & Noble yesterday hoping to find this book and this book. I found neither, but ended up with a couple Christmas gifts. I tried my hardest to make it to the checkout line with only my gifts, but HAD to stop and sneak a peek at this book when I saw the cover. I am not a die hard Chelsea Handler fan, but do watch her show on occassion with Hubby and most always crack up. I read 2 paragraphs and was laughing out loud in the store...so it was a must have. Also, I am not really a big "book reader". My reads are usually magazines or required educational readings. That just goes to show you how hilarious it is! Her sense of humor really reminds me of my good friend from The "C" Chronicles (hopefully, she takes that as a compliment). Anyhow, I am only thru the fourth chapter but it is hilarious. If you are in need of a good laugh this will cure ya.
This evening as Hubby was reading bedtime stories to LnL, I sat watching the eerie sky from the storms we had today. All of the sudden the sun peeped thru! I thought to myself...geez...I wonder where the rainbow is. The strangest thing happened next...it appeared right before my eyes! I love rainbows and am always amazed when I rarely see them (Hubby thinks its weird). The pic isn't the best...but it's proof.
After taking the rainbow pic, I happened to notice these Mourning Doves (p.s. I always thought it was MORNING doves until I Googled) on my neighbors roof. By the way, the reason I Googled was because I had heard that they usually mate for life and I wanted to confirm this notion.I thought they were SO cute. I couldn't tell if they were mother/child or husband/wife. I'm leaning towards mother/child after my recent research and findings.

One last week of pure relaxation...

The summer is coming to an end and that means I have to start thinking about teaching again. I still have one more week to just relax and enjoy every minute with my lil' ones. Yet, my nights are starting to fill with lesson planning.

With a busy month ahead of us, (2 yr. birthday, Labor Day, Beginning of school year), the goal this week is to just hang out and relax. We may try to do a splash park or Deer Acres again...but mostly just hang out! That's what summer is all about, right?

Feels like Fall

For some reason a Fall feeling day has snuck into my summer!! Mother Nature, this is not acceptable! I will not tolerate anything under 68 degress until September- please cooperate.

We were playing outside in sweatshirts and jeans today...how very sad!

It was a busy weekend for us. Friday we visited Deer Acres w/my nephews and some good friends. LnL had a blast! Anytime there is a train and carousel they are extremely excited. The park was also featuring a Shark exhibit which was interesting. My nephew, "M" was chosen a volunteer in their little show and it was super funny.

Saturday we had our annual golf outing that some of our good friends put on. Hubby's team ended up winning for the men in a 2-hole playoff and my team took second for the ladies. (The pic is the playoff in action) Some serious storms had us soaked completely, though! Afterwards there is always a big party at the "S" pond. LnL had a blast playing in the sand and the water. Plus, they loved listening to the band. Wish I could have snapped some pics...but we were WAY too busy chasing them around.

A nice little getaway...

I was fortunate enough to spend the weekend with 3 of my good friends from high school...including Knitterella and Two lil Sweet Peas. We enjoyed a weekend up at our friend, LO's cabin in Grayling. We have a large group of about 13 girls from high school that attempt to get together at least once or twice a year. As our families and careers grow, it gets more difficult to find a date that works for all.

It was SO nice to sneak away for a bit!! Friday, we enjoyed a dinner at Spikes and then headed to the cabin for some euchre and brew-has. Saturday, we spent the day on the Au Sable canoeing and a big 'shout out' goes to Borchers for helping us out and trailoring LO's canoes. In what takes the average canoer 45 min. we turned in to 6 hours....let's just say there was an awful lot of stopping. We met some new friends along the way as well. After our river excursion, we made it back safely to the cabin for some dinner and campfire. We ended the night with a game of Taboo that was hysterical. It was so nice to relax and let loose with the girls.

Of course, I missed my lil' ones the whole time I was gone! I did feel a little guilty for leaving them just because they both screamed their heads off as I was walking out the door...that's the worst! So, I made it home early this morning to the best feeling in the world. When you walk in the door and their eyes just light up with "Mama's home!" followed by many hugs, kisses, and cuddles. We spent the day outdoors just relaxing! I know I'm biased...but aren't they just adorable!
