Things I said wouldn't happen...

So, before you become a mom there are lots of things you see other children do that you swear will never happen in your presence when you become a parent. Well, here is a list of things that have happened just in the last few weeks to prove I am losing control...and sanity.

  • LK caught eating sand

  • LK caught drawing all over furniture and floors w/crayon...TWICE in one week.

  • LK covered from waist down in black poop with poop also scattered about living room (Hubby had to deal with this one all on his own)....blaming that on blueberries and faulty diapering.

  • LK woke up from nap w/black poop in crib....day after first black poop....W.T.H.!

  • LK picking up food that fell on a hotel room floor and eating....then when I said "ucky" she spit her entire mouthful of food out on my father.

  • LK counting so loudly during prayer at a wedding reception that I wanted to climb under the table and hide.

  • LJ whacking his sister in the head with a duck call

  • LJ eating a bathtub crayon

  • LJ and LK caught playing in toilet water

  • LJ slipping into a hotel corridor and running away without my knowing until about 30 secs. later that someone left the door open...FREAKOUT (30 seconds is a long time when you're dealing with a 2 year old)

It could appear after reading this post, that LJ is quite an angel compared LK. Yet, I have photos that may prove otherwise.

(Sorry about the poor quality in all the photos on this post)

Sad to report...

I am sad to report that Randy Pausch passed early this morning after his battle with pancreatic cancer. Many of you know from reading my blog, how inspired I am by the man and also how terribly close this hits to home. Just the fact that he lived almost 2 years after being diagnosed is amazing. If you still haven't had the chance to watch his Last Lecture, I urge you to do so by following the link. Help us find a cure at PanCan.

Jammed up again...

Once again last week was crazy! (so sorry I missed Wordless Wednesday...just realized it!!) I started one of my master classes which is proving to be extremely time consuming. I haven't taken a class since I've had kids...it is definitely a struggle to get my work done. Pulled many late-nighters last week. Only 2 more weeks to go and then I can return to my relaxing summer!
Also, I devised this crazy idea to plan a "kids party" about a month ago. Since I definitely wanted it to be when my in-laws were home, I had to plan it the first week of my class. So...let's just say I overloaded my plate a little last week. Hubby says I do this to myself all the time...it's true.
YET--the party turned out to be a blast! Even though I was exhausted and extremely stressed it was all worth it in the end!! We had about 25 adults and 20 kiddos ranging in age from 7wks to 10 yrs. old in our tiny backyard! Lots of toddlers...LnL had the time of their lives. It was so nice to look out into the yard and see all the smiles, hear the laughter, and just watch everyone having a genuinely good time. One of my dearest friends made the trip from the K-zoo area with her 3 kiddos including her new little 7 wk. old!! That was a nice surprise.

Sunday we celebrated our nephew and godson, Cooper's, baptism. It was a bittersweet day for me in many ways. To see Cooper baptized was absolutely wonderful. He was so sweet and everytime I witness a baptism, including my own children, I have to fight tears back. I don't know why...it is just awesome to see. Yet, I hadn't been in that church in quite some time and memories were flowing back of my mother-in-law and her passing. Also, Sunday we had to say our good-byes to the in-laws. I was in tears. We just had such a great time the past two weeks and it made me sad to see them go. Hubby said to me...why are you so upset...you've been through this a million times. I said...yeah but the kids have never been as attached to their cousins, aunt, and uncle as they are right now. We try our best to keep in touch and stay connected and I think we actually do an excellent job of it. Yet, it's still not the same as face to face interaction. K' fam...see you at Christmas...can't wait!

Jam packed WEEK!

Whewee!!!!! We had a blast this past week with our SC relatives! Our week was jam packed with activities and fun! Let's see if I can sum it up. We went to the Zoo, played at the park, had a blast with the new swingset, went to Frankenmuth, and visited Pa and Grandma Lynn up at the cottage. LnL have enjoyed having their cousins from South Carolina around so much this week that I am worried what will take place when they need to depart back home :-(. We have another good week with them so I guess I will worry about that when the time comes.

Here are some pics from the past week!!

This week LnL had lots of firsts! Including first time:
* inside a helicopter (we went to a safety day at the park)
* on a fire truck
* getting face painting (or arm)
* eating Tortilla chips
* holding lil' baby Cooper!!!

Blog stalker??

Okay...are you considered a stalker if you randomly view a blog but do not comment??? If so, I am a huge stalker. Sometimes I DO comment, but other times my lazy fingers just don't feel up to it! I really do love reading other people's blogs! Just as much as I am addicted to reality TV. (can you believe I watched Tori & Dean for 2 hrs. the other night....even though I had a crapload of stuff to do). As a blogger myself, I do SO love to see a new comment! I have noticed that most people do not comment unless they are a blogger...or unless they are my husband and know how much I love them.

I don't even know how I get into this blog trance. Tonight I sat down at the computer to quickly check e-mail (hubby's working nights). All of the sudden I was clicking on a twin link through an e-mail. Then, I was looking at Twin blogs. Next thing you know I'm cracking up at the I Got Two, Babe blog. (check it out) As reading her blog... she had a thank you post that read "Even if you just lurk. You are awesome". Aww...that makes me feel better.

I don't think I have ever stalked anyone in my life...except for maybe this guy. Knitterella, I cropped you outta this one for your sake! :-)

So, I guess I am a self-proclaimed blog stalker. I think I will work on leaving more comments...

Celebrating the Fourth...with new teeth??

Even though The Fourth of July is my favorite holiday, the last 2 years have been seriously low key. 2 years ago I spent the 4th in the hospital on bedrest...severely depressing! Last year we made a day trip up to Gladwin to the in-laws cottage.
This year we celebrated the 4th with what I can only believe to be serious teething pain!! Proof of misery pictured above. Starting Thursday LK came down w/a fever. LJ followed the next day as they always do when they get sick. The strange thing was there were no signs of runny nose, cough, etc. So, we waited it out...but things just kept getting worse! After we had a horrible night last night up every hour w/LJ we decided it best to take 'em in to Urgent Care this morning (we frequent that place WAY too much). They both have history of ear infections and I was also worried it might be strep b/c they weren't eating. So, long story short...they're fine. I guess the only thing we can chalk it up to is teeth. DAMN THOSE TEETH!!!!! Teething has never been a big problem in our house until now...and they have a TON of teeth. Anyone out there that wants to fill me in on this toddler teething bit?? Help!!!
By Friday LK was feeling a bit better...
LJ still feeling cranky...
Also...we are pretty pumped b/c our family from South Carolina is in town for 2.5 weeks!!! I am sure you will be seeing lots of pics of our outings in the next few weeks. Here is "K", Coop, and Zo just hanging out 2day...
